Since we have been studying the bombing that ended WWII, we have discussed some of the reasons as to why. Post your position and support it. You may not use either to end the war faster or innocents were bombed. There are so many other reasons.

I am defending Harry Truman, the bombing was the best way to save lives. It helped stop further violence. It was also good because the Japanese deserved it because of Pearl Harbor. It was also a good lesson to the Japanese and other countries that they shouldn't mess with America.
I am defending Harry Truman's decision to drop the atomic bomb. One reason is because Japan started the war I mean, they did surprise attack Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Another reason is Japan was a warrior culture, that means that they did not believe in surrendering. The use of the atomic bomb saved American and Japanese lives. This is so because if Japan and the United States kept on fighting, it is estimated that over a million people would die. That is well over the amount of people killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Since the atomic bomb was so destructive, it helped prevent other wars because the countries were scared of the power of the it. Also, if the United States had not used it, maybe later on it would fall into Japanese hands and they might use it against us. It prevented the soldiers from doing a land raid which would kill a lot of soldiers. It could also be used as a punishment for keeping American prisoners of war under such harsh conditions. Those were some reasons I am defending Harry Truman's decision to drop the atomic bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
I am against the bombing of Hiroshima because it was supposed to save lives of Japanese and Americans but it killed 200,000 people just in Hiroshima. There were better ways of ending the war. If everyone thought bombing was necessary they could have bombed just the military base in Hiroshima using conventional bombs instead of atomic. By using these atomic bombs Truman was encouraging other people, no necessarily the Japanese but other countries to develop atomic bombs because they brought results they wanted almost immediately. I think although their we're many people that were not innocent their we're also many innocent people being killed because Truman didn't think about hat he was doing.
I am against Harry Truman's decision to drop the atomic bomb. I am against him because when they did the test on the bomb they saw how much damage could be done. Not just people would be injured or killed but buildings and towns would be destroyed. 6,180 of the 76,000 buildings were able to be used after the bomb was dropped. A few months after the bombing even more buildings had to be destroyed or fell down on there own. Another one of the reasons I am against Harry Truman is that he had told people that he was aiming for military bases but he seemed that he hit mostly civilians. Those are some of the reasons as to why I am against Harry Truman.
I am supporting Harry Truman and his decision to drop the bomb. President Truman took many Japanese lives, but he also saved many American and Japanese soldiers. America would have had to conduct a massive land invasion, that still would have had to kill civilian lives, and lose thousands of American soldier lives not to mention all the Japanese soldiers lives. Japan would crumble from the loss of workers, loss of land, and the money spent to clean it up. Japan supplies the United States with lots of goods, and America's economy would also start to do bad.
I'm defending Harry Truman. The bombing was the safest and easiest way of ending the war. If we also did not bomb them, an estimate of 1,000,000 more American would have then died.Another reason was The Soviet Union may have joined the war, which would cause the war to go on for about one more year. The Soviet Union would've most likely joined, because Japan leaders knew they couldn't win, yet kept fighting in hopes of getting better surrender terms. Many Americans were also very weary from 4 years of war, so ending the war would end this, too.
I am defending Harry Truman’s choice to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki. First, Japan was the one who gave no warning and bombed the Americans at Pearl Harbor. Japan disobeyed the “international laws of warfare”. Secondly, Japan had prisoners of war (POW) that were being beaten, mistreated, and killed. Truman also gave the Japanese a warning to stop the war and surrender, which they declined. These are just some reasons why I feel Truman had every right to drop the Atomic Bomb on Japan.
I agree with Truman's decision to drop the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I agree with his decision because if he invaded, more people would have died than they did when the U.S. dropped the bomb and U.S. soldiers would have died as well. The U.S. also gave the Japan government many chances to surrender but, they choose not to surrender even after the U.S. dropped the bomb on Hiroshima. Once again the U.S. gave Japan many chances to surrender but they did not so the U.S. dropped another bomb on Nagasaki. Japan could have saved all of those citizens if they had just surrendered but instead they were to stubborn.
I am against Harry Truman because he did not give warning so most people were out and about at the time the bomb was dropped. I know Japan did some pretty bad things at Pearl Harbor, but that isn't an excuse to use nuclear powers against them. Also there were many other short ways to end the war.
I am against Truman because he killed 200,000 people. Many buildings were destroyed and anyone near where the firebomb exploded were vaporized in seconds. Radiation sickness spread within four days. Many people died from it, as it caused many forms of cancer. People, even children, were mutated from the sickness. Burned bodies were everywhere and the firebomb sent gamma and infared rays across a 5 mile radius. Then America dropped another bomb on Nagasaki three days after Hiroshima. The one city barely had time to recover. Two cities destroyed by very powerful A-bombs. The soldiers didn't get to see what the bomb did to the desert, they had descriptions, but I bet if they saw it, they would've changed their minds. America should've aimed for the military base, not the middle of the cities.
I am for Harry Truman's choice to drop the bomb because it is the only thing that would jolt the japanese to surrender from the war and it would save live to drop the bomb then to invade on land too
I am in the jury. Harry Truman had no right to do this but, he was being pressured by those around him. The bomb was safely tested in the United States but, the results in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were just as worse. Civilians were turned to rock instantly. The bomb had many stages including the shockwave. The Japanese dove their planes into buildings to commit suicide.
I am defending Harry Truman and his decision to drop the bomb. It was the fastest way to end the war. It impressed the Russians so it ended the war more quickly. Also, less people were killed in the war than if it had gone on. Those are some of the reasons I agree with Harry Truman's decision to drop the bomb.
I am on Americas side. And I think throwing the atomic bomb is bad because it could lead to world war 3 us americans might think that Japan really did surrender but for all we know Japan might have a evil plan that would take us out once and for all. So know that the world will not always be peaceful but if we team up we can win and America will not go down with out a fight, so we need to try not to mess up again if it costs us are lives.
I am with Harry Truman's choice. We were in War and he needed to go with the best choice towards America. Just like any other country would do. I think that bombing Hiroshima and Nakasaki was a better route because if we decided to invade Japan we would have lost 500.000 to 1,000,000 American Soldiers lives. Also Japan dropped a bomb on Pear Harbor with no warning and we were not even in war. We also gave Japan a fair warning about the bomb and they could have prevented the situation if they would have surrendered. They refused to surrender and Harry Truman had no other choice but to drop ' little boy' and 'fat man'. Even after the war Americans went in and help build Hiroshima back up. So we were caring but also doing what was best for America at the same time.
I am defending harry Trumans decision in this argument of wether it was a good decision or not. In this debate I have at least three or four good reasons to support the American's point of view. The first reason is because that logically speaking if America had decided to invade Japan instead of bombing it, there would have been a lot more deaths than that coming from the bombing on both sides, American and Japanese. The second reason I support the reason is because I respect the decision made by the americans, going back to the fact that the japanese killed us in more horrible ways that are so gruesome i can't even type the details in this comment. Also one more reason I support this decision is because te japanese back during World War two criticized us as,"The bugs that deserved to be squashed." or, "The worthless scum that do not deserve to die with honor." I think it was just like giving them a dose of there own medecine. That is the reason why i support on
I am in the Jury. I support the bombing on Japan because America had already lost 2,500 lives in the war and would have lost more if we had invaded the Japanese, it caused the Japanese to look for other sources of oil in the Pacific area, because they bombed us Hitler declared war on the U.S. which eventaully lead to his death and it caused the battle in Normandy,France.
I think that the decision to drop the bomb was right. Truman did not even know what the bomb was truly capable of doing. Of course it wasn't only Truman who didn't know. Lots of people making the decision didn't know, not even the scientists who made the bomb. They only knew it was very destructive and could destroy lots of lives. America had even given Japan several chances to surrender. It was like Japan was backing America into a corner, leaving them no choice. Truman wasn't going to continue to fight and lose lives. The decision to drop the second atomic bomb was a double check to make sure they surrendered. It wasn't only Truman who thought this. Many, including Leslie Groves, also thought this. These people did not just drop the bomb to save American lives, but Japanese lives too. The atomic bomb was not first built for the Japanese, but for the Nazis. So this bomb was not specifically for Japan anyway. Truman wasn't even aiming for citizens.Truman had been looking for a true military place. Hiroshima was, in fact, a huge military base. And let's not forget that it was Japan that started the war. That is why I think this decision was right.
I am against the bombing of Hiroshima. The reasons why I'm against it is because the bomb had created mass damage to Japan's cities. The United States should have bombed an unoccupied area to demonstrate the United States power. Another reason is that the bombing killed to many civilians. The United States should have known the effects that would happen to the people or at least full knowledge of the bomb's power.
I am defending Harry Truman for dropping the bomb. Harry Truman had every right to drop the bomb because the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, and the United States wanted to get Japan out of the war. Well, since Japan was remaining undefeated. If the United States remained fighting with them or invaded they would had lost many more Americans. Harry also wanted to invade Japan without them knowing. He thought that would be more accurate. The war needed to be ended so that helped a lot.
I am against Harry Truman's choice to drop the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. On August 6, 1945 Americans released the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima. While Japan was still trying to recover from the first bomb attack, America released another bomb on Nagasaki. I support Japan's decisions because America should have allowed more time to respond. Maybe Japan would have surrendered. America had only tested the bomb once before the attack and failed to test it under more that one circumstance. Therefore America had no idea what would happen when they dropped the bomb on the enemy. America assumed what would happen but could never tell for sure. Instead of America aiming for Hiroshima's military base or emperor's home, America wanted more and bombed citizens on Hiroshima, which was not right. These are some of the reasons I am against Harry S. Truman's decision to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
I am for the bombing of Japan. If we had not bombed Japan, the war would have gone on for approximately two to three more years. The longer the war went on, the more people would have died. Fewer people died when the bombs were dropped than would have died if the bombs had never been dropped.
I think it was a bad decision to drop ther automic bomb because the Japanse didn't surrender because of there Emperor not saying it was the Emperors fault. Also the U.S dropped 2 bombs in 4 days.

I am with the bombing because i feel that we had no choice but to bomb. Japan would not stop attacking us so we defended our self's
